browsers will notice that Model Mania's web site is still
very down-to-earth. We'd like to be higher-tech but our
skills are mainly directed to the models. If anyone out
there wants to be our webmaster, we're all ears. For now, let's stick to giving you the best information we can. Latest news is that we will have a boating pool for the first time in several years (hurray!). Just a little one, we think, with displays of candle-powered steam "pop-pop" boats. We're also delighted to have booked a ride-on railway which will be plying its trade in the school field. Still on steam, we've reported that local hero Arthur Honey is back again with a road run of miniature traction engines and lorries from Wallingford to Model Mania. There are photos from previous years elsewhere in this site. We're expecting more than a dozen steamers to make the run this year. They will leave Wallingford (CWRPS) Station at about 10:15 and and you can look out for their arrival at Model Mania at about 11:00. To catch them en route, look along the Wallingford Road. A full range of refreshments will be on offer and we're pleased to confirm that Cholsey W.I. will be doing the honours. Very few of you who came last year could have missed the spectacular 'beat ups' by Peter Vacher's Hawker Hurricane and the BBMF's Avro Lancaster. We are expecting more visits from 12" to the foot scale planes this year, so keep your eyes peeled. We are willing to offer 'Bring & Buy' table space if you have items to sell. However, you MUST arrange this with us at least a week in advance and we can't offer any guarantees about where the space will be. Primary schools are not the easiest places to plan down to the fine details! Cheers from the Model Mania team! |
